Helen D. Johnson, 103, Grand Forks, died Monday, November 26, 2012 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Helen Dagmar Anderson, the daughter of Swedish immigrants, Peder and Karna (Peterson) Anderson, on June 9, 1909 in Kittson, County, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school near Lake Bronson, Minnesota. Helen and Mefford Johnson were united in marriage in October, 1930. They lived on a farm near Lake Bronson, Minnesota until moving to Grand Forks in 1941. Mefford Johnson died in 1956.
Helen was an active member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. She enjoyed reading, walking, shopping and visits with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Sanford, Grand Forks, Gayle (Harry) Rohme, Burnsville, Minnesota, and Phillip Johnson, Grand Forks; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Mefford; a son Glen; son-in-law, Bob Sanford; sisters, Anna Anderson, Betty Nordine, and Lillian Young; brothers, Axel Anderson, and Ernest Anderson.
Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Augustana Lutheran Church, 520 University Ave., Grand Forks.
Visitation: one hour prior to the service in the church.
Interment: will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
