Brent Charles Knutson, 50, of Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, November 24, 2012 in the Fargo VA Healthcare System, Fargo, ND, after a long illness.

Brent Charles Knutson, 50, of Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, November 24, 2012 in the Fargo VA Healthcare System, Fargo, ND, after a long illness.

Brent was born on February 17, 1962 to Larry R. Knutson and Carole (Cook) Malone in Grand Forks, ND.

Brent grew up and attended school in Grand Forks, graduating from Red River High School in 1981. Upon graduation Brent served in the US Navy from 1981-1989, touring the Philippines, Japan, Guam and was also stationed San Diego, CA, Orlando, FL and Norfolk, VA. As Brent toured Guam on the USS Proteus he was a computer operator. Brent was especially proud to have trained with the Marines there and later became an RTC legal in the Admirals Office. Brent had obtained a Criminal Justice degree at the same time he was serving in the military. Brent also was stationed in Hawaii where he was Bailiff and funeral division Yeoman.

Brent will be especially missed by his daughter Sheena and pet Persian cat Oliver. Brent had a great sense of humor and laugh that was so contagious. He also enjoyed many of the 80’s rock and roll bands. He played guitar while listening to his music. Brent was very generous to many friends and always had a listening ear for many people.

Daughter: Sheena Knutson – Grand Forks

Sister: Kathy Miller – East Grand Forks

Mother: Carole (Cook) Malone- Auburndale, FL

Former Wife: Cynthia – Grand Forks

One Niece and five Nephews

He was preceded in death by his father Larry and sister, Vicki Knutson Gantt.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 at 1:00 PM in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 South 42nd St., Grand Forks.

Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks
