Curtis D. Bratlie, 75 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

Curtis D. Bratlie was born November 3, 1937 in Kennedy, MN the son of the late Clifford and Myrtle (Johnson) Bratlie. He graduated from Kennedy High School and started working for the Northern Pacific Railroad. He served in the United State Army from 1957-1959. Following his discharge he returned home and went back to work for the railroad. Curtis was united in marriage to Diann Anjal on July 2, 1965 in Forest River, ND. The couple lived in Johnstown, ND for a time. He attended UND and received a degree in Social Work in 1972. The couple then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where he got his Master's in Social Work. In 1974 the couple moved to Grafton and Curtis started as the Director of Social Work at the Grafton Developmental Center. He worked there until his retirement in 1999.

Curt was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and was currently serving on the church council. He was a member of the Forest River American Legion and the Grafton V.F.W. He served on the Heritage Village Board in Grafton. Curt enjoyed woodworking, going the races in Grand Forks every Friday, his pets and watching high school and college sporting events. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his two special grandchildren.

Curt is survived by his wife Diann, Grafton, ND; children: David Bratlie (Trish Pawlychyn), Winnipeg, MB; Jessica (Mark) Hermanson, Drayton, ND; two granddaughters: Madison and Maia Hermanson; his sister, Polly Swanson, Twin Valley, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Grafton.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Kennedy Cemetery, Kennedy, MN. Military rites will be provided by the Forest River American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
