Gary P. Hughes, 49, Grand Forks, ND died unexpectedly Saturday, November 10, 2012 at home.
Gary was born June 24, 1963 in Grand Forks, the son of John and Delories (Peterson) Hughes. He grew up and attended schools in Grand Forks and graduated from Red River High School in 1981. Gary moved to Des Moines, Iowa to pursue a position in the USHL Hockey league. He also lived in Arizona and Florida before returning to Grand Forks to work for United Crane and Excavating, the company he later co-owned and operated with his brother, Greg.
Gary enjoyed playing hockey, hunting and time at Island Lake, MN, but his favorite activities were those involving his family and friends.
Gary married Joline Lande on May 22, 1992 in Grand Forks. She survives along with their children, Carlie, Kaitlyn and Jacob, all of Grand Forks; his parents, John and Delories Hughes, Grand Forks; brothers, Greg (Cindy) Hughes, Grand Forks and Steven (Cindy) Hughes, Edina, MN.
Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 15, 2012 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1710 Cherry St, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church.
Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks, ND.
