Vera Moe, 87, of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND.

Vera Eleanor Gatheridge was born to Elvira (Grahnquist) and William Henry Gatheridge on June 15, 1925 and lived with her family in Humboldt, MN. She graduated from high school in Hallock, MN in 1943. Vera worked in secretarial positions for several businesses in Hallock, the last employment being at the Hallock High School for 10 years.

Vera married Donald Laude in 1944 in Hallock, and they had a son, Terry, in 1947. Donald died in a tragic accident in 1950. Vera married Elmer Moe in Hallock on September 30, 1952 and their son, Robert, was born in 1954. Vera, Elmer, Terry, and Robert lived on and farmed the original “Moe Farmstead” in Thompson Township in Kittson County, MN. Vera and Elmer spent many winters at Desert Shadows, AZ, where Vera directed the choir and wrote the newsletter. They moved to an apartment in Grand Forks, ND in 1996. Following Elmer’s death in 2008, Vera moved to Good Samaritan Heritage Grove in East Grand Forks, MN. For the last few weeks, Vera lived at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND.

Surviving Vera are her sons, Terry (Suzanne) Moe of East Grand Forks, and Robert (Susan) Moe of Fargo, ND. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Katherine Foss of Park Rapids, MN.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sisters and their spouses Ruby and Henry Dykhuis and Julia and Gordon Hjalmervik; brothers and their spouses William and Irene Gatheridge and Carl and Lois Gatheridge, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John and Margaret Karol, Marlowe and Kay Moe, and Ellsworth Foss.

Funeral Services: Monday, November 5, 2:00 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks, MN.

Visitation: Sunday, November 4, from 5:00 to 7:00 with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service in Dahl Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, MN and also 1 hour prior to Funeral Service on Monday in Bethany Lutheran Church.

Interment: Bethany South Cemetery.
