Robert Stephen Joseph Bolduc

Robert Stephen Joseph Bolduc, 83, a resident of rural Stephen, MN died on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the home of Doug and Michelle (daughter) Roise of Barnesville, MN, surrounded by his family.

Robert, “Bob” was born December 15, 1928 to Felix and Marie (Landreville) Bolduc. Baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Red River Mission Church, he began his lifelong relationship with his church and his Heavenly Father.

From 1951-1953 he served in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army. On October 22, 1953 he married Thelma Genevieve Frovarp and they settled in Parker Township where he farmed for over 40 years. He worked many winters for American Crystal Sugar in Drayton, ND and as a carpenter for Frankie Delisle. Bob loved music, especially the accordion. For many years he had a dance band called Bob and the Mel-Tones. When he retired he continued to entertain for various events at nursing homes, museums, dinner theaters and for his biggest fans, his family. His greatest joys were his family, woodworking, inventing, gardening, automobiles, yard work, history, and watching Lawrence Welk and Myron Floren. Bob was a Christian gentleman in the truest sense of the word and a hero to those who loved him. His example of character and integrity blessed all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years; his children, Robyn (Bob) Oland, Michelle (Doug) Roise, Timothy (Jill) Bolduc and Jonathon (Amy) Bolduc. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Peter, Andrew, Stephen, Elizabeth (Benton), Abigail (Kramer), Michael, Christian and Douglas Roise, Isaac, Joel and Jonathon Bolduc and three step-grandchildren: Robby Oland, Halle and Courtney Harrington. His siblings include: Doris (Bolduc) Harris, Wallace (Carol) and Richard (Beverly) Bolduc, all of Stephen and two brothers-in-law Chris and Willard Frovarp and a sister-in-law Irene Howey.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; his sisters, Irene (Thomas) Silewski and Shirley (Hubert) Dvorak; one granddaughter Ellianah Sophia Bolduc (Tim and Jill) and one great-grandson, Andrew Robert Roise, Jr. (Andrew and Bethany).

Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Stephen, MN. Msgr. Roger Grundhaus and Fr. Bob Stone presiding.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at St. Stephen’s with a prayer service at 7:00 pm

Interment at St. Stephen’s Catholic Cemetery. Austin Funeral Home, Stephen, MN.

Memorial donations may be sent to Red River Valley Hospice, who so kindly cared for Bob and his family in his final days.
