Lillian Eastman passed away on Sunday, May 13, at LifeCare Roseau Manor. She was 91 years old.
Lillian M. Eastman, the daughter of Thilda (Brandt) and Oscar Lisell was born in Malung, MN on June 4, 1920. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Malung.
Lillian married Milton Eastman on November 28, 1942 in Grand Forks, ND. They had four children, Renae, Pam, Kevin and Kristi.
Lillian and Milton owned and operated Milt's Grocery Store and also the outdoor theater in Malung in the 40's and 50's. In 1968, they moved to the Twin Cities where they together managed several apartment complexes. They moved back to Roseau in 1977 and managed the Row Rob Apartments. Lillian also worked at the Children's Home, the Travel Host, and the Guest House in Roseau. She did daycare at her home, ironed clothes for several families and was a wonderful homemaker for her husband and family.
Lillian was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Roseau and was a part of the Ruth Group. She enjoyed quilting with the ladies and she and her sister Beda Hallie made dumplings for the annual "soup day".
Lillian was the best mother and grandmother we could ask for. She will be missed greatly and will be remembered by her family for her patience and gentle manner. She was a wonderful cook and baker and everyone enjoyed her soft flatbread. Lillian made sure they all left with a hug and a bag in their hand.
She is survived by her children: Renae (Charles) Honl of Westville, IN, Pam (Warren) Olson of Roseau, Kevin Eastman of St. Paul, MN and Kristi (Neil) Herling of Roseau; grandchildren David Honl, Ryan (Jill) Honl, Mark (Torie) Olson, Lori (Tony) Stoskopf, Dawn (Greg) Lund, Tim Gagnon, Brandon (Kristy) Ballard, Derek Eastman, Samantha Eastman, Sellena (Nick) Sandstrom, Holly Eastman, Tony (Daidre) Herling and Nick (Jessica) Herling; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Merrill Lisell (special friend Donna) of Roseau; sister Lamae (Laverne) Norman of Pelican Rapids, MN.
She is preceded in death by her husband Milton in 1994; sisters Harriet Dieter (Russell) and Beda Hallie (Milo) and brother Dalton Lisell (Gloria).
A funeral service for Lillian Eastman of Roseau will be held on Thursday, May 17, at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau at 2:00 p.m.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at Helgeson' Funeral Home.
