Dennis I. Goetz, 73, Grand Forks, ND entered into eternal peace at home on Sunday, April 15 with his entire family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dennis I. Goetz, 73, Grand Forks, ND entered into eternal peace at home on Sunday, April 15 with his entire family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Grand Forks, ND on March 26, 1939 to Ignatius (Ned) and Susie Goetz he graduated from S.t James High School in 1957. On April 4, 1959, he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Darlene Bergum at St. Michaels church. Denny started his own business, Dennie's Delivery Service in August, 1959. In 2002, he retired, passing on the business to his daughter and son-in-law and continued working for them.
He was a member of the North Dakota National Guard, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was called to active duty during the Cuban crisis in 1962. He was a member of St Michaels church and Knights of Columbus. His strong faith in God was evident in the life he led and the family he raised. He and his wife Darlene raised 7 children. His passions in life were his family, camping, fishing, bowling and motorcycling.
He enjoyed retirement, spending the last 6 winters in Florence AZ and spending the summer months fishing with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; sons, Michael, Portland, OR, Jeffrey, Grand Forks, ND, Thomas (Angel), Roseau, MN, Tim (Jackie), East Grand Forks, MN; daughters, Debbie (Scott) Moen, White Bear Lake, MN, Nanci (John) Iverson, Grand Forks, ND, Julie (Carrie) Frankl, Grand Forks, ND; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wally (Lorraine) Goetz, Columbia Heights, MN, Gary (Darlene) Goetz, Grand Forks, ND; a sister Joni (Gary) Sivertson, Grand Forks, ND.
He is preceded in death by a grandson, Noah and his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 in St Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 with a 4:30 p.m. rosary service and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service in the Norman Funeral Home, S. Washington St., Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the mass in the church on Thursday.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 157, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family. We have worked with Denny and then with John and Nanci for many years.
