Freida Schmidt, age 74, of Niagara, ND, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society of Lakota.

Freida was born July 16, 1937 in rural Michigan, the daughter of Mortinus and Florence (Mehenek) Anderson. She was raised in Michigan, ND and graduated from high school in 1956. Freida was baptized at Melrose Lutheran Church in Petersburg, ND.

Freida was united in marriage on November 2, 1963 to Palmer “Mickey” Schmidt in Michigan, ND. Palmer and Freida spent their life together on the family farm in rural Niagara, ND. She spent her days as a homemaker caring for their three children. She loved spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family. Time with family was important to Freida and she especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren.

For the past four years Freida has been a resident at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota. She enjoyed her time socializing and playing games with the other residents.

Freida is survived by her sons: Michael (Cindy), Larimore, ND, Robert (LuAnn), Grand Forks, ND, and Allen, Devils Lake, ND; brother: Charles (Rose) Anderson, Stevensville, MT; sisters: Pearl Gilbertson, Minneapolis, MN, and Janette Moen, Michigan, ND; grandchildren: Dustin (Emily), Grand Forks, ND, Darrin, Niagara, ND, Michael, Niagara, ND, Cole, Larimore, ND, Karlee, Larimore, ND, Jessica, Grand Forks, ND, Alissa, Grand Forks, ND, Anthony and Nathan Horter, Larimore, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings: Rosalie, Anna Marie, Fredrick, Katherine, Edward, and Rose Mary.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Niagara, ND.

INTERMENT: St. Andrew Lutheran Cemetery, Niagara.

VISITATION: Tuesday, April 3 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Wednesday.
