They moved to Kenmare, North Dakota, where he taught business at Kenmare High School. In 1969, they came to Karlstad where he taught business and computers until retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Karlstad Fire Department and was very active in the Karlstad Lions Club, serving as treasurer for many years. Ken dearly loved spending time with his buddies at the Twin Lakes Deer Camp and with his friends at Mitchell Lake and North Long Lake. He especially loved spending time with family and former students who returned to see him. His hobbies included fishing, cards and Yahtzee with the guys and watching sports on TV. As an educator Ken continued to exercise his mind with daily crossword puzzles. His smile, sense of humor, and warm hugs will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He had been in failing health for the past 16 years, receiving a kidney transplant in May of 1998.
