Edna A. Blomquist, 101, of Hallock, Minnesota passed at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Tuesday, December 6th, 2011.

Edna Augusta Rice was born July 18, 1910 at Lake Bronson, Minnesota the daughter of Dennis and Augusta (Rideout) Rice. Edna graduated from Lake Bronson High School in 1930. She attended nursing school in Fergus Falls, Minnesota and later graduated as an LPN in St. Paul, Minnesota. Edna married Johnny Blomquist at the Lancaster Lutheran Church on October 15, 1936. They settled near Lake Bronson and farmed there. They built a new home in 1957 and after retirement they wintered in Arizona. Edna and Johnny moved to the Heritage Apartments at Hallock in 1987. Johnny passed away that same year.

Edna moved into Rivers Edge assisted living in 2008 and to the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in 2010.

She is survived by a son, Danny and his wife, Angela, Hallock, MN; a daughter-in-law, Cindy (Dennis) Sobolik, Hallock; grandchildren, Melanie (Dirk) Hanson, Moorhead, Kathy Blomquist, Killaloe, Ontario, Jon (Denise) Blomquist, Hallock and Paul (Kirstin) Blomquist, Hallock; great grandchildren, Gwen (Kevin) Gjovik, Beth (Shawn) Halvorson, Dana Blomquist, Soren Blomquist, Finn Blomquist, Ava and Abigail Hanson and great-great grandchild, Mahren Gjovik.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; a son, Monte in 1988; five brothers, Arthur, Lloyd, Donald, Kenneth and Charles and sisters, Dorothy and Gladys.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, December 10th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Bronson, Minnesota.

Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson.

Visitation will be at the Austin Funeral Home in Hallock on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. and at the church in Lake Bronson for one hour prior to the funeral service.
