Leona Larson, 81, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Friday, September 30, 2011.

Leona Margaret Anderson was born in Kittson County on October 22, 1929, the daughter of Levin and Martha (Hoglin) Anderson. She attended school in Hallock and graduated from high school in 1947.

Leona worked as a telephone operator and at Glidden's Dairy Bar and Dairy for several years. Leona also worked at the Co-op Elevator until her retirement. On September 1, 1950 she married Walter "Swede" Larson. Swede passed away on December 16th, 2006. Leona was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the "Sewing Club". Family was especially important to Leona and she enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and baking for Swede and the children. Leona became a resident of the nursing center in 2003.

Family members include her children, Michael (Deb) Larson, Warroad, MN, Patricia (Ron) Sugden, Battle Lake, MN, Craig (Jody) Larson, Bemidji, MN and Kevin (Melissa) Larson, Hallock; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; three brothers, Linden Anderson, Hallock, Jim (Joan) Anderson, San Jose, CA and Ron (Judy) Anderson, Kragnes, MN; and a sister, Janice (Kenneth) Anderson, Hallock; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Marlys Erickson and a brother, Melvin Anderson.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, October 6th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock.

Visitation will be at the Austin Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

OUR SINCERE SYMPATHY AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO ALL OF LEONA'S FAMILY. SHE AND SWEDE WERE GOOD FRIENDS AND WE HAVE MANY GREAT MEMORIES OF TIME SPENT TOGETHER. SHE WAS JOHN'S FAVORITE BOOKKEEPER AT THE ELEVATOR. WE KNOW THAT THESE PAST FEW YEARS HAVE BEEN VERY HARD AND PAINFUL FOR HER FAMILY AND HOPE THAT EACH OF YOU CAN CHERISH THE MEMORIES OF THE GOOD TIMES AND ALL THE LOVE SHE HAD FOR YOU. GOD'S COMFORT TO ALL OF YOU. JOHN & ADRIENNE PLAINE.
