Judith (Judie) O. Johnson, the daughter of the late Tony and Gunhild (Venaas) Gullikson, was born on Sept. 29, 1935, at Middle River.

Judith (Judie) O. Johnson, the daughter of the late Tony and Gunhild (Venaas) Gullikson, was born on Sept. 29, 1935, at Middle River.
She graduated from Middle River High School in 1953. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Middle River and was a life-long member. On March 10, 1956, Judie was united in marriage to Edward Johnson at Middle River and the couple has since made their home there. Judie was very active in the community: she and Gayle Gram were instrumental in establishing the Middle River detachment of Tri-Co. E.M.S. ambulance and were the first female firefighters on the Middle River Vol. Fire Dept. She was a life member of the Middle River American Legion Auxiliary and held various offices. She helped establish the Living At Home/Block Nurse Program at Middle River and Thief Lake, was employed at the former Middle River Record newspaper for several years and drove a Middle River School bus for many years. In addition, she worked as a home health aid for several years. Due to failing health two years ago, she and Eddie moved to the Meadows Assisted Living facility in Karlstad and this past June, she moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls where she passed away on Sunday morning, August 28, 2011, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 29 days.
She is survived by her husband, Edward, of Karlstad; one son: Ryan (Robin), of Thief River Falls, MN.; two daughters: Theresa Johnson (Cathy Meyer), of Moorhead, MN. and Wenda (Hubert) Sang, of Karlstad; five grandchildren: Grant and Tony Sang and Kameren, Isaac and Emma Johnson; one sister: Dorothy (Roy) Bednarek, Oakdale, MN. in addition to several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Judie was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Phyllis Abrahamson and Joan Simmons
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Fri. at First Lutheran Church, Middle River.
Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Thur. with a 7 P.M. prayer service at the Collins Funeral Chapel, Middle River, and at the church one hour prior to services Fri. morning.
