Milton E. "Mickey" Williams, 86, Fisher, MN, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon, August 19, 2011, on the farm near Fisher.
Mickey was born at the family home in rural Fisher on December 11, 1924, the son of Peter and Sella (Dahl) Williams. He was baptized and confirmed at the Fisher Lutheran Church. He grew up and attended country school and Fisher High School. He farmed with his father prior to entering the Military during World War II in April, 1945. He served as a medic in Okinawa and received his honorable discharge in December, 1946. He returned to farming and attended the Northwest School of Agriculture. He was united in marriage to Irene Radi on February 21, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fisher. Mickey and Irene celebrated their 61st anniversary earlier this year.
He belonged to the American Legion Post 242, serving as Sergeant at Arms for 50 years, and also as Commander. He was a member of the local Sugar Beet Growers Board, Eldred Elevator Board and Trinity Lutheran Church Board. His love of bowling still held firm, bowling on several leagues through the years. His life-long passion was farming and he was proud to have seeded all the sugar beets on the farm for the past 60 years.
Loving family members include his wife of 61 years, Irene; sons, Steve (Jan) Williams, Fisher, Michael A. Williams, Springfield, VA, Jeff (Karen) Williams, Littleton, CO, daughter, Sue (Steve) Meyer, Fisher, and son, Jim (Roxanne) Williams, Eden Prairie, MN. Nine grandchildren, Heather (Jim) Williams, Melissa (Jeremy) Klein; Brandon Horgen, Barbie (Brian) Huelsbeck, Ben Horgen, Tina (Frank) TeBay, Adam Williams, Jesse Williams, and Nathan Williams. Three great grandchildren, Asher TeBay, Ruth TeBay, and Zander Huelsbeck. Three step grandchildren, Shaun (Lucy) Meyer, Joshua Meyer, and Rachel (Dallas) Aune. He is also survived by two sisters, Hilda Sandstrom, Fargo, ND and Clarice Jones, Lodi, CA, several nieces and nephews, and many brothers and sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Selmer Williams, and Palmer Williams, and two sisters, Inez Huber and infant Mary Williams.
Funeral: 10:00am Friday, August 26, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fisher, MN.
Visitation: At the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, MN, on Thursday from 5-7PM, with a 7PM prayer service, and also at the church for one hour prior to the funeral.
Interment: Greenwood Cemetery, Fisher, MN.
