Eileen June (Kongslie) Dugan, the daughter of Ole and R. Viola (Thorson) Kongslie was born June 12, 1921 in the farm home of her maternal grandparents, Ulrich and Alette Thorson, 8 miles southeast of Denbigh, ND.

Eileen June (Kongslie) Dugan, the daughter of Ole and R. Viola (Thorson) Kongslie was born June 12, 1921 in the farm home of her maternal grandparents, Ulrich and Alette Thorson, 8 miles southeast of Denbigh, ND.
She died at the age of 90 years on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Altru Medical Center in Grand Forks, ND.
Eileen was raised in the Star Township, McHenry County ranch home of her parents and attended elementary school at Wintering School, graduating from Towner High School in 1939. In 1941, she earned her Associate Degree in Education from Minot State Teachers College. In later years, she furthered her education earning her Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Education at the University of North Dakota. Her teaching career in country and city schools spanned over 60 years.
On April 24, 1948, Eileen was united in marriage to Patrick Dugan at Towner, North Dakota. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Idaho until purchasing a small ranch 9 miles north of Towner in 1950. In addition to teaching, Eileen was very active in Pioneer Daughters and loved watching birds and growing flowers. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Towner and its Ladies Aid. Patrick died May 6, 2003. Following his death, Eileen remained in her ranch home for a few years and then moved to Grand Forks to be nearer to her family.
She is survived by her son, Garry and wife, Alicia of Manvel; two grandsons, Corey (Susan) of East Grand Forks, MN and Jay of Grand Forks; two granddaughters, Jolie (Wade) Mitchell and Quinlan Mikula, all of Grand Forks; ten great-grandchildren; one niece and four nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Truman and Vernon Kongslie; two nephews; a niece in infancy and a grand niece.
Funeral services held: 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Towner with burial in the Union Cemetery, Towner. Pastor Linda Wimmer, officiate.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Towner and for one hour prior to the time of services at the Church.
Casket Bearers: Corey and Jay Dugan, Lynn, Vern & Justin Kongslie and Dennis Genre.
Honorary Bearers: Kenneth Livedalin, Robert Stigen, Douglas Thorp, Wade Mitchell, Eric & Kevin Lashman, Raymond Thorson, Scott Stutrud , Orrin Nelson, all neighbors, friends and former students.
