Jean passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls on Friday morning, July 8, 2011, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 8 days.

Jean Lucille Hunt, the daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Tingle) Ralph, was born on August 30, 1928, in Sarles, North Dakota. She was baptized in the Presbyterian Church and attended school both in Sarles. She worked as a telephone operator and helped at home on the farm prior to moving to Rock Lake, North Dakota. Jean was united in marriage to Orin Hunt on April 1, 1955, at Salt Lake City, Utah. The couple moved to Anaconda, Montana, and later to Chinook, Montana, where Jean worked as a nurse’ aid, helped on the farm and cared for their children. In 1966, the family moved to Middle River, Minnesota, where Jean worked as a cook in the school and for the Land O’ Lakes Turkey Plant at Thief River Falls, Minnesota. In 1984, the couple moved to Lake Bronson, Minnesota, and upon retiring in 1990, moved to Newfolden, Minnesota. They were presently making their home in Thief River Falls. Jean enjoyed doing puzzles, watching Minnesota Twins baseball, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing and was very good at it. Jean passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls on Friday morning, July 8, 2011, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 8 days.

She is survived by her husband, Orin, of 56 years; three daughters: Emma (Dale) Brown and Florence (Jay) Nelson, both of Thief River Falls, and Rhonda Gram, of Middle River; grandchildren: Heather (Wayne) Garthus and their children, Cole and Jalen, of Holt, Minnesota, Jessica (Jared) Jarmin and daughter, Eden, of West Fargo, North Dakota; Daniel Nelson and Cheryl Nelson, both of Thief River Falls, and Cody Gram, of Middle River; two sisters: Fern Langerud, of Grand Forks, North Dakota , and Edith Ducatt, of Kent, Washington; in addition to several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Russell Wayne and one daughter: Rose Mary, both in infancy; two sisters: Irene Holmes, of Canada, and Lillian Hanson, of Watford City, North Dakota; one brother: Kenneth Ralph, of Sarles, North Dakota: and one son-in-law: Donn Harstad of Newfolden, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tues., at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN. Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Mon. with a 7 P.M. prayer service at Collins Funeral Chapel, Middle River, and at the church one hour prior to services on Tues. An on-line guest book is available at www.collinsfunerals.com
