Ethelyn D.L. “Dimpy” Budge, 95, of Grand Forks, ND died Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND.
Ethelyn D.L. Johnson was born December 2, 1915 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Sander and Hulda (Anderson) Johnson. Ethelyn grew up in Grand Forks and attended Grand Forks Public Schools graduating from Central High School in 1934. She then attended Aakers Business College and UND. Ethelyn worked for Boushey’s Produce in East Grand Forks and as a secretary at Herbergers Department Store before marrying Kenneth R. Budge on October 3, 1940. Kenneth died August 5, 1977.
Ethelyn was very proud of her Swedish heritage and the fact that she was baptized in Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.
She was also involved in many community activities including being a Cub Scout Leader, President of the Roosevelt P.T.A., South Jr. High P.T.A. and the City Council P.T.A. She also served as a member of the N.D. State P.T.A. Board; a board member of the Foundation for Education and helped create the Red Cent Newsletter; a volunteer at United Hospital and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Forks.
Ethelyn is survived by: Sons: Patrick (Gayle) Budge – Grand Forks; William (Patricia) Budge – Scottsdale, AZ; Bruce (Cindy) Budge – Gainesville, TX; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth R.; brothers, Rudolph, Leroy (Sander II); sisters, Florence Dencker; Betty Ann Hickerson and a granddaughter Jeanne Budge.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 5555 Washington St., Grand Forks.
Visitation will be for the hour before the service at the church.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
