Carol M. Porter, 73, Crookston, MN, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Riverview Healthcare Center, Crookston.

Carol was born June 23, 1938 in Crookston, MN, the daughter of Merle and Marie (Goosen) Magsam. She grew up and attended Belgium Township school and graduated from Crookston Central in 1956. After graduation Carol worked at Fiemann Store in Euclid, MN.

On April 25, 1959, Carol was united in marriage to Dennis Porter at First Presbyterian Church in Euclid, MN. A wonderful mother, wife, and grandmother, she worked part time at the Windy Corner and Kramer's Store, both in Euclid.

Carol was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Euclid until its closing in 1998. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary Post. She later joined the First Presbyterian church, Crookston. She loved playing bingo, spending time with friends and making plastic canvas art. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Carol is survived by three sons: Russell (Judy) Porter, Bruce (Shannon) Porter, Merle Porter, all of Euclid, MN; one daughter: Martha (Mark) Gust, Euclid, MN; one nephew she raised, Jeremiah Porter, of Grand Forks, ND, eight grandchildren: Brent, Trish, Nicole, Dylan, Leslie, Logan, Johnna, Daniell, five great grandchildren, Kaylee, Alison, Kalob, Kyla, and Drake, one sister, Barbara (Luther) Wiltse, Kinney, MN, four brothers, Dave Magsam, Dennis (Toby) Magsam, Stuart (Debbie) Magsam, and Duane (Joyce) Magsam, all of Crookston, MN, a brother-in-law, Dale Porter, Seattle, WA, a sister-in-law, Judy Magsam, Crookston, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dennis, a daughter, Justina "Tyke" Porter, one brother, George Magsam, and three sisters, Alice Halvorson, Beatrice Kramer, Arlene Magsam, and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral: 2pm Monday, July 11, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church, Crookston.

Visitation: Sunday from 5-7PM with a 6:30 pm prayer service at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston.

Burial: Prairie View Cemetery, Euclid, MN.

Arrangements: Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, MN.
