Clifford Witzel, 81, of Langdon, ND and formerly of Maida, ND, passed away July 4, 2011, at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.

Clifford Witzel, 81, of Langdon, ND and formerly of Maida, ND, passed away July 4, 2011, at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.

Clifford was born May 13, 1930 to John Jr. and Fanny (Brown) Witzel at Maida, ND. He grew up and was educated in Maida. Clifford entered the United States Air Force and served from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was an Airman First Class in the 61 Squadron stationed in New Foundland. Upon his Honorable Discharge, he returned to the Maida area and farmed. Clifford and Donna Faye Mayer were united in marriage in 1963. In 1964, they took over the family farming operation near Maida. Clifford had an outgoing personality that always left everyone with a smile. He was a member of the American Legion Post #98.

Clifford is survived by his sisters Virginia Frandsen of Sequim, WA; Vivian Pastorek of St. Louis Park, MN; June Peck of Corning, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna and brothers Richard "Dick" and Wilbur.

SERVICES will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at 1:00 pm at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.
