Marjorie A. Christensen

Marjorie A. Christensen, age 84 of Osnabrock, ND passed away on Wednesday, June 08, 2011 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon.

Marjorie A. Johnson was born August 4, 1926 near Osnabrock, ND the daughter of the late Albert P. and Minnie (Vollum) Johnson. She attended rural school at Easby #4 and graduated from Osnabrock High School in 1944. She later attended Mayville State Teachers College for an eight week summer course. She taught rural schools at the Krein and Rusten in Hay Township. She later worked at the Farm Labor Office and County Agents Office in Langdon. Marjorie was united in marriage to Ole E. Christensen on June 11, 1947 in Milton, ND. In 1951 she received her appointment as a substitute rural mail carrier for the Postal Department. She was clerk at the Osnabrock Post Office for three years and acting postmaster for six months until a new postmaster was appointed. In August of 1984 she was appointed rural mail carrier at the Strathcoma, MN post office. Ole passed away on November 14, 2008. Marjorie later moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Osnabrock.

She was a member of the Dovre Lutheran Church and WELCA in Osnabrock; the Town and Country Senior Citizens, Order of Eastern Star in Milton; Daughters of Norway, Osnabrock American Legion Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society and the National Rural Letter Carriers Association.

She is survived by her sons: Dale (Mary) Christensen, Fargo, ND, Albert Christensen, Langdon, ND and Randy (Della) Christensen, Hettinger, ND; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother, Merrill (Dolores) Johnson, Hudson, WI and daughter-in-law, Sherry Christensen, Langdon, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Duane; sisters: Bernie and Fern; brother Ferdinand and daughter-in-law Jeanne.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Dovre Lutheran Church of Osnabrock, ND.

Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at the Union Cemetery, Osnabrock, ND.
