Ingeborg Swenson, 88 of Northwood, North Dakota died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood.
Ingeborg Turtedal was born April 16, 1923 in rural Churchs Ferry, North Dakota the daughter of Osmond and Tone (Lystad) Turtedal. She attended school in Churchs Ferry and then in Northwood. On August 26, 1940 she was united in marriage to Vivian Bryan Swenson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Larimore. They established their home in Larimore and in 1956 moved to a farm north of Larimore. Mr. Swenson passed away in 1968. She then moved her family into Larimore until moving to Northwood where she worked at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center. After her retirement she then worked with home health in Northwood. In September of 2003 she became a resident of the Northwood Deaconess Health Center.
She was a member of the Washington Lutheran Church and their WELCA.
During her retirement she enjoyed crocheting and making rag rugs which she sold at many craft shows. Through all of this, Ingeborg’s greatest passion was playing bingo.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Eunice (Gordy) Peterson of Sheridan, Wyoming, Bette (Kevin) Grass of Northwood, North Dakota and Deborah Swenson of Dillsboro, Indiana; grandchildren, Melissa, Shelly, Curtis, Wendy, Sandy, Lynnae and Jeanette; twelve great grandchildren and brother, Gilbert Turtedal of Larimore, North Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vivian; sons, Allen in December of 1966, Edward in March of 1976 and Verryl in May of 2000; daughters, Linda Swenson in December of 1966 and Yvonne Rioux in April of 2005; grandchildren, Amanda and Walter Brian and brothers, Tov in 1956 and Olaf in 1968.
Memorial Services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center Swarstad Chapel in Northwood with burial in Washington Lutheran Cemetery of rural Northwood.
