Donald L. Lorenzen, age 63 of Barnesville, MN and formerly of St. Thomas, ND lost his battle to cancer Sunday, May 01, 2011 at Sanford Hospital of Fargo, ND.

Donald L. Lorenzen, age 63 of Barnesville, MN and formerly of St. Thomas, ND lost his battle to cancer Sunday, May 01, 2011 at Sanford Hospital of Fargo, ND.

Donald L. Lorenzen was born August 18, 1947 in Drayton, ND the son of the late Clyde and Elizabeth (Staskivige) Lorenzen. He grew up in St. Thomas, ND, attending school there. Following his education he served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1971 when he was discharged with a medical disability. Donald then returned to St. Thomas where he worked for several farmers until moving to Fargo. While in Fargo he worked for NDSU and Veterans Administration until his retirement in 2001.

Donald enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved gardening, hunting, and fishing. Sitting in the boat on a lake was his happy place.

Donald is survived by his daughter Tami Lorenzen, Cavalier, ND; son Terry (Tina) Lorenzen, Cavalier, ND; four grandchildren: Brittany Lorenzen, Kody Knutson, Shelby and Hanna Lorenzen; sisters: Vangie Hess, Hallock, MN; Ruth (Ray) Wenlund, Crystal, MN; Doris Corneillie, Grafton, ND; Shirley (Kenny) Feltman, Cheyenne, WY; Rose (Dale) Narveson, Grafton, ND; Judy (Terry) Mattson, St. Thomas, ND; Jane (Herman) Barta, St. Thomas, ND; Darlene (Doug) Larson, Gothenberg, NE; Mary (Buzz) Burns, St. Thomas, ND; many nieces and nephews, and the love of his life Melanie Bieri, and the love of both of their lives Abby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Delphine Osterdyk and brothers: Stephen, William, Duane, and Jerry.

Memorial services will be Friday May 6, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Friday for one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at the St. Edwards Catholic Cemetery of Drayton.

Military rites will be provided by the Ottum-Ball American Legion Post #168 of St. Thomas, ND.
