Edwin L. Plutowski, age 85 of Minto, ND passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

Edwin L. Plutowski was born February 7, 1926 in Walshville Township of Walsh County, ND the son of the late Leo and Helen (Rogalla) Plutowski. He attended the St. Aloysius Convent School in Warsaw, ND; the Walshville School Dist. #32 and graduated from Oslo High School in 1944. Edwin served in the United States Army from 1945-1947, stationed in Yokohama, Japan. Following his discharge he returned home and was united in marriage to Evelyn Gerszewski on October 14, 1947 in Warsaw. The couple lived and farmed in Walshville Township. Edwin also did custom combining from 1959-1993 when he retired.

He was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw, ND; a life member of Minto American Legion Post #201, served as clerk of Walshville School Dist. #112, served as chairman of Walshville Township for 59 years, served as director on the Manvel Farmers Co-op Elevator Board and was a member of the Elks Lodge#225 in Grand Forks.

Edwin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Plutowski, Minto, ND; his children: Dale (Judy) Plutowski, Minto, ND; Arlette (Jay) Britton, Grand Forks, ND; Kelly Plutowski, Williston, ND; Bart Plutowski, Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren: Angie (Dennis) Carpenter, Michael Plutowski, Becky (Adam) Koosman, Jared Plutowski, Kyle Britton, Cole Britton, Riley Britton, Garrett Plutowski and Kellen Plutowski; three great grandchildren: Halle, Drew and Kayla Carpenter; his sisters: Beatrice (Halward) Dipple, Grafton, ND; Louise (Emil) Votava, Grand Forks, ND; two brothers: Earl (Lydia) Plutowski, Grand Forks, ND; and Robert (Dorothy) Plutowski, Minto, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gary, and two brothers: James and Eugene.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at the church in Warsaw. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion Post #201, the East Grand Forks American Legion & VFW Posts and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.

It broke my heart to read this news. I'm not suppose to have favorite patients, but everyone knew Edwin was mine. I would always give him sugar free candies when he would come in. Evelyn, I can't imagine how you must feel. Know that my prayers are with you now and in the coming days. Edwin was a true angel and now he's with the rest of them. Sincerely, Kolleen Wick

We are so sorry to hear about Edwin, he was a kind, friendly and loving person, he will be greatly missed. We won't be able to attend the funeral as we are still in Az. But you will be in our thoughts and prayers. Love and prayers to all the family, especially Evelyn. Take care and God bless. Tom and Ann Walski
