She then moved back to Grand Forks and met Gustav Gunderson and married June 27, 1949 in Crookston, MN. Lorraine worked until retirement, at the University of North Dakota, in foodservice as a head cook. After she retired, she proceeded to work part-time. On March 30 2011, she received "The Mother Theresa - Phenomenal Woman Award" from UND. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening, rummage sales, baking, and going to the casinos with family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Brent) Demarais, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Jeremy, Ashlynn, and Sammi Demarais; great-granddaughter, Naomi Wilson; sister, Edith Einarson, Kasispell, MT; brother, Victor (Rita) Sondreson Seattle, WA, and another precious one on the way, many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and special friends Betty Tweed, Marty Erickson, Celeste Long Elk, and Vince Kerzmann.

She joins her parents, husband, Gust; daughters, Lila and Diana and foster daughter, Suzie; eight siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews with the Lord.

Lorraine will be remembered by her laugh, smile, sense of humor, baked goodies, and generosity. She is and will be forever loved and missed. Mom, you requested to be brought home so you can rest in your "big red chair" and this was your final rest to go home.
