Leeward "Bud" Lofthus, 86, of Northwood, North Dakota, formerly of Oslo, Minnesota died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in the Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood.
Leeward Lofthus was born August 15, 1924 in Oslo, Minnesota the son of Lars and Helen Lofthus. He lived in Oslo all his life where he farmed and raised his family. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a ski jumping and flying enthusiast. Bud loved spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Echo and following her passing he made his residence in Northwood.
He is survived by his daughters, Diane (Robert) Bredeson of Mesa, Arizona, Jill (John) Hughes of Roseville, Minnesota and Mary (Peter) Antonson of Northwood, North Dakota; five grandchildren, Joseph (Libby) Hughes, Amy (Matt) Beseth, Andy Bredeson, Nikki Antonson and Eric Antonson; five great grandchildren, Clara, Henry, and Catherine Hughes, and Owen and John Beseth; and sister, Patsy Gowen.
Bud was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center Swarstad Chapel in Northwood with burial in Granville Cemetery, Oslo, Minnesota.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church.
