Marion Herold, 84, of East Grand Forks, MN, formerly of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the St. Therese of New Hope.
Marion Constant was born on April 29, 1926 in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Frances (Bendel) Constant. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls in 1944. On October 6, 1956, she was united in marriage to Patrick Cashmere Herold at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Their first daughter, Connie, was born in 1958. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls for six years before moving to East Grand Forks, Minnesota in 1962. In 1968 their second daughter, Jackie, was born. Marion's husband, Patrick, passed away on July 24, 1972.
Marion was employed in Seattle, Washington from 1945 to 1946 at the Western Union Telegraph Company and from 1951 to 1954 at the People's State Bank. She worked as a bank teller at the Union State Bank in Thief River Falls, Minnesota from 1947 to 1951 and 1954 to 1956. After her marriage to Pat, Marion worked in various part-time jobs, most recently and enjoyably as a Foster Grandmother at Sacred Heart Elementary School in 2008 and 2009. She was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Parish in East Grand Forks and belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
During her lifetime Marion enjoyed sewing and belonged to a neighborhood sewing club. She also enjoyed gardening, and loved the pursuit of a good bargain at rummage sales.
Loving family members include two daughters and sons-in-law: Connie and Dave Sullivan of Champlin, Minnesota; and Jackie and Jim Tatur of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and four grandchildren: Patrick and Andrew Sullivan and Geoffrey and Emily Tatur. Marion is also survived by her brother: Edward Constant of Red Lake Falls; and three sisters-in-law: Juanita (Willard) Constant of Babbitt, Minnesota, Monica (Lloyd) Constant of West Fargo, North Dakota, and Gloria (Leon) Biever of Grand Forks, North Dakota; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick; parents, William and Frances Constant; brothers: Willard and Lloyd; sisters and brothers-in-law: Bernice (Robert) Larson, Rollin (Mary) Herold, Leon Biever, Rose (Mel) Hoeft, and Joe Pat (Lucille) Biever.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, March 21, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Pat Sullivan presiding and Father Chuck Huck homilist.
Visitation will be from 3-6 PM, Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 5:30 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the mass on Monday at the church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN.
In lieu of flowers a donation will be made to the American Cancer Society.
