Bernice Ione (Gjovik) Driscoll, age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks.
She was born on September 28, 1912 to parents Olaf and Ingabord Gjovik. She married Ansel Driscoll on November 18, 1931 and raised her large family on a farm in rural East Grand Forks. She loved to crochet and knit, creating thousands of beautiful afghans for family and friends. She taught crocheting and knitting classes at the AVTI for more than 20 years. Bernice was known to always have the coffee pot on. Her visitors would usually find her crocheting, cooking, or tending her garden. Music and religion were always important to her.
Bernice was loved and will be dearly missed by her children, Dennis Driscoll of Las Vegas, Marge (Richard) Nienaber of Canton, Georgia, Gene (Sharon) Driscoll and Dick (Mary) Driscoll of East Grand Forks, Dale (Esther) Driscoll of St. Claire, Michigan, Larry Driscoll of Phoenix, Arizona, and Scott Driscoll of Crookston; by her brothers, Olaf (Florence) Gjovik of Sandwich, Illinois, Lee (Stevie) Gjovik of Madison, Wisconsin, and sister, Dot (Reuben) Flaten of Duluth; by her more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ansel; by one son, Leon (Patricia) Driscoll; by her brothers, Roy (Gladys) Gjovik, Kelly (Inez) Gjovik, and Joe (Nancy) Gjovik; and by her sisters, Nora (Mancer) Flaten, Nanna (Newman) Johnson, and Mae (Orin) Paulson.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2011 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1515 5th Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN.
Visitation: One Hour before Funeral Service on Saturday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Interment: Resurrection Cemetery ~ East Grand Forks, MN.
