Inez Halstenson was born August 20, 1921 near Niagara on the farm of her parents, Adolph and Hanna (Skibstad) Halstenson. She was raised on the farm and attended country school in the area and also Niagara High School, graduating in 1940. Inez married Ole E. Solseng on June 12, 1940 at Elk Valley Lutheran Church near McCanna, ND. In 1946 they purchased the Hagen farm in Adler Township of Nelson County, where they raised their family. Ole and Inez raised cattle & milk cows, as well as other livestock, for many years. Inez was a member of the Lom Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid for over 60 years, the PAN Homemakers Club, and an honorary member of the Elm Grove Ladies Aid. She was also a 4-H Leader for many years and member of the Sons of Norway, the Nelson County Fair Board, and the Bachelors Grove Saddle Club. Inez had a green thumb, she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, rosemaling, oil painting, baking & decorating wedding cakes. She played the violin and was an excellent seamstress, sewing beautiful garments and quilts. Inez was in her 80's when she was a model in a fashion show at Stump Lake Pioneer Village. She and Ole enjoyed traveling. They visited many states, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Europe and Mexico. Ole died July 31, 2002. Inez continued living on the farm until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in June of 2009.
We wish to thank our caring neighbors Randy Schaley, Mark Landeis, and Allan & Ruth Peterson for everything they did for mom, and dad also when he was alive.

To the Solseng family & loved ones, My sincere sympathy in the loss of Inez. She impacted your lives in so many different ways, from being a longtime loving wife & soulmate to Ole (god rest his sole). She was a loving & caring Mom, Sister, Aunt, Grandma, Great-Grandma & in the many different ways she impacted so many of your lives. I certainly enjoyed our long conversations & good laughs we had, while updating each other on our busy lives & how everyone else was doing! As your family goes through this difficult time, remember God has opened the pearly gates of heaven, so Inez can reunite with Ole. I'm the daughter of the (late Kenneth) & Ruth Johnson of McCanna. I currently live in Grand Forks. Gods Blessings to your family, Respectfully, Patti Johnson-WestremGrand Forks, ND 02/24/2011 12:41 AM
