Ida Stella St Germain was born February 3, 1929 to Esdras and Florida (Hebert) St Germain, rural Argyle, MN. She attended school at Argyle and graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture, Crookston MN. Ida married Bert L. Rivard on January 9, 1946. They made their home in Bigwoods Twp north of Oslo MN where they farmed until 1969. In 1966 Bert and Ida started Rivard's Quality Seeds and moved into Argyle where they lived until their retirement. Ida moved to Parkwood Place at Grand Forks ND Dec, 2007 and to Valley Eldercare in June, 2009 where she received excellent care. Ida was richly blessed by the staff and the residents at Valley Eldercare.

Ida played a very active roll on the family farm providing room and board to farm hands, harvesting peas, hauling sugar beets etc. She especially enjoyed her painting job with Allard and Isabelle Swanson just prior to retirement. Ida found enjoyment in horseback riding, playing cards, golfing, golf cart racing, playing pool, & fishing. Ida made friends easily everywhere she went and she looked forward to each friend and family member's visits with great anticipation. A yearly highlight for Ida was a luncheon with her sisters, which they termed the "Sister's Act."
