Betty Mary Sten, Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Age 88, passed away January 18, 2011 in Duluth, MN, where she lived for the past seven years.

Betty Mary Sten, Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Age 88, passed away January 18, 2011 in Duluth, MN, where she lived for the past seven years.

Betty was born February 2, 1922 in Argyle, MN to Henry and Laura (Bacon) Dufault. Betty was the oldest of seven children. Betty married Gunnar Sten in Stephen, MN, November 20, 1941. Gunnar and Betty had two children, Arvid and Linda. They made their home in Stephen. Gunnar passed away March 26, 1997.

Betty worked as a waitress in local café's and at Arctic Cat in Karlstad. She was active in St. Stephen's Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Homemakers and Birthday Clubs, and Red Hat Club. Betty enjoyed working with plants and had a green thumb. Betty enjoyed entertaining, baking, playing cards, bingo and being surrounded by family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gunnar, her sisters Angel, Darlene, and Gloria. Also preceding her were her brothers Roderick and Russell.

Betty is survived by her brother William Dufault, her son Arvid (Judy) Sten of Argyle, daughter Linda (John) Meek of Alborn, MN, her grandchildren Michael (Julie) Sten of Bagley, MN, Annette Sten of Thief River Falls, MN, Tracy (Lee) Jacobs of Duluth, MN, Crystal (Chad) Nicolai of Hermantown, MN and Kerry (Lawrence) Johnson of Alborn, MN, and five great grand-daughters, Elizabeth Nicolai, Nora and Nina Jacobs, and Sophie and Lily Johnson.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Monday, January 24, 2011 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stephen, MN.

VISITATION: After 3:00 PM with a 5:00 PM prayer service on Sunday at the church in Stephen and one hour before services on Monday at the church.

INTERMENT: St. Stephen's Cemetery, Stephen, MN.

We are thinking of you Arvid and Linda and your families. There are so many memories of being at Betty's home and her being at our home. How she and Gunner enjoyed playing cards with my parents and friends. Betty was always such a kindhearted person. Dwaine & Sandie Rud, Stephen MN
