Stephen "Slim" Christensen, 62, of Bagley, MN, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather passed away suddenly January 17, 2011, at Clearwater County Memorial Hospital of a heart attack.

Stephen "Slim" Christensen, 62, of Bagley, MN, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather passed away suddenly January 17, 2011, at Clearwater County Memorial Hospital of a heart attack.

Stephen was born December 13, 1948, in Grand Forks, ND to Walter & Vivienne (Rice) Christensen. He graduated from East Grand Forks High School in 1966, he also attended Bagley High School during his junior year. In 1968, he entered the United States Navy where he served as an aviation machinist until he was honorably discharged in 1972 with the rank of E5. While stationed in Oak Harbor, Washington, he met Lou Ellen Hills they were married March 31, 1973. They moved to Bagley, MN in April of 1973, where they purchased a home.

He started working for Gesell's Concrete (Knife River) in 1975 through the summer of 2010, and was recently going to retire. In the winter, he kept active in the community by calling Bingo & snow blowing/shoveling. He was a 40 year member of the American Legion Post 16 in Bagley, MN, and served as Post Commander in 1980.

A great man who enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing & ice fishing, often was referred to as the "camp cook". He enjoyed all outdoor activities from riding four-wheeler to riding jet ski! The highlight of his year was attending the Eelpout Festival in Walker, MN. He enjoyed being part of the infamous "Camp LePout" with his beloved brothers Charlie & Brian (Go Camp LePout)! He spent numerous summer nights sitting with his family & friends around the campfire and shooting the breeze. In recent months, he's been enjoying watching movies and playing Wii!

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lou Ellen; daughters, Robin Beckstrand (beloved friend Jeff Mammenga), Anoka, MN; Marissa Christensen (longtime friend Michael Greenberg), Bagley; Stephanie (Rick) Verville, Otsego, MN; Kayla (Justin) Friborg, Bagley; Mother, Vivienne Christensen, Bemidji; Siblings, Jean Marohl, Fargo, ND; Mary Kay (Bob) Klein, Bemidji; Charlie (Monica) Christensen, Bemidji; Sandra (Dave) Greggory, Grand Forks, ND; Brian (Nancy) Christensen, Eden Prairie, MN. Nine Grandchildren, Chastine, Gretchen, Lauren, Logan, Brycen, Landen, Quinten, Peyton, & Haidyn; Nine nieces and nephews. He was expecting his 10th grandchild and 1st great-grandchild in August of this year.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter; daughter and son-in-law Vonda & Robert Evermoen.

A family gathering and sharing time will be held Thurs, Jan 20, from 5-7pm at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley.

The funeral services will be held Friday, Jan 21, 2pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Bagley with the Reverend John Omans officiating.

There will be a luncheon after the services at the American Legion Post 16 in Bagley.

I am sorry to learn of Steve's passing. My sympathies to the Christensen family. Myron Johnson, Lecanto, Fl. (classmate of Steve's, 1966)
