Rodger Miller, 76, of rural East Grand Forks, MN passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his daughters on Wednesday, January 12, 2011.
Rodger was born December 17, 1934 on the family farm in rural East Grand Forks to John and Gladys (Larson) Miller. He was baptized and confirmed at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Tabor, MN. He attended country school at the Wayside School District #196 and graduated from Alvarado High School. Rodger married the love of his life Nina Jane Sersland on September 29, 1957 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks, MN. Together they raised four daughters in Grand Forks, ND. Rodger and Nina spent their last years together enjoying the country life on their farmstead in rural East Grand Forks.
A special blessing to all of the medical staff who cared for Rodger during his hospital stays after his numerous surgeries but didn't have the opportunity to really know him. I am Rodger Miller. I am a Father of four wonderful daughters. I am their only parent left as their Mother passed away 6 years ago. I am a proud veteran. I served my country with pride. I continue to support my country and all of the veterans. I am proud to be an American. I have worked my entire life in farming and production management. I am a grandfather to 8 grandchildren. I am a son, a brother, a husband and a father. I am a child of God and he loves me unconditionally, as He does all of you. God has promised me eternal life in his Kingdom. I trust and believe Him. When you came into my room you saw another patient to care for in your already busy schedule. All I wanted to do was go home, to my home on Miller's Corner. Because of the loving care of my daughters, I was able to. And now, by the Grace of God, I am finally in my eternal home.
Rodger will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his 4 daughters, Tammy (Randy) Kovarik, of Roosevelt, MN, Brenda Miller, Julie (David) Molstad and Terri (Charles) Yaeger all of Grand Forks, eight grandchildren, Angie, Kimberly and Ashley Kovarik, Jamie Miller, Joshua Nelson, Alexander and Jennifer Molstad and Matthew Yaeger, his mother Gladys Useldinger of Grand Forks, sisters, Joyce Johnson, of Seattle, WA, Donna (Robert) Pape, of East Grand Forks, MN, Lois Eid of San Jose, CA, brothers, Raymond Miller of Seattle, WA, James (Judy) Miller of Yellville, AR and Duane (Bonnie) Miller of Detroit Lakes, MN, and devoted pet Molly May.
He is preceded in death by his Loving wife Nina, his father, infant twin sons, who were born and died on his birthday and 1 sister Carol Faye.
