Mary R. Dobson, 86, of Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in her home.

Mary R. Dobson, 86, of Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in her home.

Mary Rita Zikmund was born December 7, 1924 in Conway, ND the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Votava) Zikmund. She graduated from Mayville State College and also attended the University of North Dakota. She was a teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School, East Grand Forks, MN and retired from the East Grand Forks School District working in the Title I program. On April 10, 1947 she married Gordon Dobson in Conway, ND. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks the American Legion Auxiliary, Retired Educators of Minnesota, St. Michael's Bridge Builders, U.N.D. Foundation, Shirts + Skirts, Senior Citizen Center and various book and card clubs. Mary enjoyed living life to the fullest by spending time with her family and her circle of many friends.

Mary is survived by her four children, daughters, Carol (Jim) Dobson-Miller, Rimrock, AZ, Darlene (Lew) Cobb, Cottonwood, AZ, Marilyn (Mark) Hastings, St. Joseph, MO and a son, Darrell, St. Felipe, MX; four grandchildren, Adam (Aimy) Curran, Grand Forks, ND; Eric Curran, Moorhead, MN; Jason Dobson, Jamestown, ND; Kiffany (Brad) Reno, St. Joseph, MO; five great-granddaughters, Kayla Pyle, Kristina Dobson, Halle and Hanna Curran and Sophie Reno. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Marvin Dobson, her parents; four brothers and three sisters and her best friend, Lynus Sobolik.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.

Family Greeting: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday with a 4:30 rosary service and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, 2950 So. Washington St. Family greeting will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.

Interment: Garden of the Evangelists in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.

Memorials: Memorials may be directed to St. Michael's Church, St. Michael's Foundation or St. Michael's Bridge Builders all at 520 6th Street North, Grand Forks, ND 58203.

Mary was a good friend and although we lost touch in the past few years, she remains close to my heart. She was a lovely lady with a wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed. Marly A. Crystal Lake, IL
