Violet Bowman - 87, of Kennedy, Minnesota, passed away at her home on Friday, December 31, 2010.

Violet Marie Jacobson was born on May 25, 1923, in Cannon Township to Nels and Marie Jacobson. She grew up in Cannon Township and attended country school. On August 3, 1940, she was united in marriage to Glen Bowman. They resided in Hallock for a short time and later moved to Kennedy where they made their home. Violet was employed at the Kennedy Public School for 37 years.

She also worked at the Kennedy Migrant School for several summers.

She was a long time member of Maria Lutheran Church. Violet was well known for her fabulous cooking and baking skills. She enjoyed attending bingo at the Kennedy Senior Center. Violet was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by her family and everyone else around her.

Family members include her children, Bonnie (Al) Tyszelman of St.

Paul, MN; Byron (Janis) Bowman of Greeley, Co; Barb (Don) Johnson of Dublin, OH; Beth (Robert) Gatheridge of Kennedy, MN; Brent (Jody) Bowman of Kennedy, MN; fourteen grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Peterson of Hallock, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents Nels and Marie Jacobson; husband Glen; brothers Carl Lander and Melvin Jacobson; and sisters Minnie Bowman, and Lillian Moen.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy, Minnesota. Interment will be in the Kennedy City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Austin Funeral Home at Hallock with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
