Walter Van Eps, age 83, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his home, with his family at his bedside.

Walter Van Eps, age 83, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his home, with his family at his bedside.

Walter was born on May 2, 1927 in Holland, MN, the son of Walter and Kate (Evink) Van Eps. He grew up in southern Minnesota. On October 12, 1950, he was united in marriage to Clazina VerSteeg in Hancock, MN. They lived in that area until 1956, when they moved to northern Minnesota, settling in East Grand Forks in 1961. His life's work was in the potato industry, working for Lockwood Graders, V & V Sales (which he co-owned), and Pro-Ag Equipment.

Walt was a life-long member of the Christian Reformed Church, and was instrumental in the establishment of the congregation in East Grand Forks. He loved the outdoors, specifically fishing and hunting. He looked forward to annual camping and hunting trips with his family. Seeing his family together gave him great joy.

Family members who survive Walter include his wife Clazina of East Grand Forks, children, James (Clarissa) of Fisher, MN, Robert (Peggy) of Morris, MN, Suzanne (Richard) Smith of Morris, MN, Kenneth (Rachel) of East Grand Forks, Delray of East Grand Forks, and LaRae (Curt) Foerster of Grand Forks, 24 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Wilhelmina Rabine of Willmar, MN, and Tracy (Lee) Sanders of Cold Springs, MN, along with numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, 9 brothers, and 1 sister.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Redeeming Love Community Church, 714 6th St. SE, East Grand Forks, MN.

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Stennes Funeral Home of East Grand Forks, and 1 hour before the Funeral Service at the church.

Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery ~ Grand Forks, ND
