DeLores Geraldine Johnson

DeLores Geraldine Johnson, 87, of Ada, MN, passed away December 9, 2010, at Bridges Care Community under the care of Hospice.

DeLores was born to Clarence and Naomi (Golliet) Akason, on October 12, 1923, on the family farm near Kelso, ND. She attended school in Kelso and graduated from Hillsboro (ND) High School in 1942. DeLores then attended North Dakota Agricultural College (NDSU) where she graduated in 1947, with a degree in Home Economics Education and Nutrition. She taught Home Economics and Physical Education classes at LaMoure, ND and then moved to Ada, where she became Norman County Home Extension Agent for two years. It was here that she met her husband, David Gustaf Johnson, while driving around the country recruiting 4-H leaders. She and David were united in marriage on April 10, 1950, at Hillsboro, ND. They farmed and raised their family in Pleasant View Township, north of Ada. They spent many winters in their winter home at Venture Out in Mesa, AZ. In 2007, they moved to Sheyenne Crossing in West Fargo, ND and returned to Ada in 2009, entering Bridges Care Community.

DeLores served many roles in the community and church over the years and was a hard working farm wife, making wonderful meals and treats for her family. Her family enjoyed all her goodies, especially her Scandinavian rice pudding, soft molasses cookies, and many others. DeLores loved tending her many beautiful flower beds over the years and delighted each spring to plan the year's plantings and the annual trip to Bergeson Nursery in Fertile.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, David, Ada; daughter, Julien (Barry) Batcheller, West Fargo, ND; son, Lynn (Patty) Johnson, Ada; daughter, Janell (Jeff) Regimbal, Grand Forks, ND; seven grandchildren: Dr. April (Dr. Andrew Shaffer) Batcheller, Royal Oak, MI; David (Mary) Batcheller, Fargo, ND; James Johnson, Minneapolis, MN; Charles and Paul Johnson, Ada; Jennifer and Brady Regimbal, Grand Forks, ND; and one great-grandchild, Felicity Batcheller. DeLores was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gwendolyn Craig.

Memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, and Bridges Care Community, Ada.

Funeral services will be at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at 11:00am.

Visitation will be on Wed-nesday, Dec. 15, 2010, from 5-7pm with a prayer service at 6:30pm in Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Burial will be in the Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
