Madeline M. Schanilec age 93 of Minto, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.
Madeline M. Schanilec age 93 of Minto, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.
Madeline M. Fee was born July 17, 1917 in Minto, ND the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Malone) Fee. She attended rural school at the Ops District #6. Following her education she was united in marriage to John J. Schanilec on November 8, 1937. The couple lived and farmed near Veseleyville, ND until 1960 when they retired and moved into Minto. Madeline worked as a sales clerk for the Resezka Store in Minto and the S&L Store in Grafton. John passed away on December 20, 1984. Madeline continued to live in Minto until December of 2008 when she moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home.
Madeline was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society, the Minto American Legion Auxiliary and the Minto Museum. She loved to quilt and make baby blankets. She was an avid Twins and Fighting Sioux Fan.
Madeline is survived by her children: James (Louise) Schanilec, Minto, ND; Elizabeth (LeRoy) Erickson, Grafton, ND; Lenny Schanilec, Minto, ND; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and sisters: Pat Jensen, Grand Forks, ND and Geraldine Foerster, Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son John, daughter-in-law Ann, brothers: Emmett, Earl, Charlie, Frank and Raymond and sisters: Elizabeth, Madonna and Irene.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:30-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Minto, ND.
