Marlene Ann Peterson

Marlene Ann Peterson, age 76, passed away on October 6, 2010 in Cody, Wyoming after a courageous and private battle with lung cancer.

Marlene was born on October 3, 1934 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Richard and Mary Malone. She was raised with her younger brother, Richard Jr., on family farms along the Minnesota and North Dakota border. Marlene graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Grand Forks, in 1952; she was valedictorian of her class.

Marlene met and married Carl M. Peterson, also from Grand Forks, in 1958. They had three sons together, Bret Leigh Peterson, Bruce John Peterson and Robert Blake Peterson. Marlene moved to Longview, Washington in 1963.

Marlene worked at the Reynolds Metals (Alcoa) aluminum plant in Longview for over twenty years, and raised her three sons. While working at Reynolds, she met and was briefly married to Don I. Provolt. Marlene retired from the mill in 1993 and moved to Cody, Wyoming, where she enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and playing any and every type of game with her grandchildren.

Marlene is survived by her brother Richard Malone; her three sons, Bret, Bruce and Robert Peterson; and her three grandchildren, Brandon Leigh Peterson, Maxwell Thomas Peterson and Natalie Beth Peterson.

A private family celebration is planned.

Those desiring to make memorial donations can make them to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, PO Box 19024, Seattle, WA 98109, or online at http://www.fhcrc.org.
