Stephen "Steve" Nicholas Fetter, 94, of Reynolds, ND, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday October 8, 2010, at 4000 Valley Square, Grand Forks ND.
Steve was born December 26, 1915 in Glen Ullin, ND, the son of Jacob and Veronica (Kottenbrock) Fetter. He married his high school sweetheart Frances Schultz on November 6, 1941 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Reynolds. He and Frances farmed for 37 years outside of Reynolds while raising 9 children. He drove school bus for Central Valley Public School. He retired in 1978 and moved into Reynolds. During retirement, he and Frances enjoyed many camping trips and visited every state in the US. He enjoyed his times with his family and was a quilting partner with his wife. His favorite quilt to make was a kaleidoscope design. He was a charter member and officer of the Knights of Columbus. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His extended family now numbers 77.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances; 9 children: Ralph (Bonnie) Minneapolis, MN; Leon (Marie), St. Paul, MN; Marlane (George) Sanderson, Moorhead, MN; Benita (Tom) Bina, Hugo, MN; Rod (Mary) Minneapolis, MN; Bev Grand Forks, ND; Les (Ida), Eugene, OR; Robert (Kim) Denver, CO; Linda (Sheldon) Focht, Denver, CO; sister, Regina Adam; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Marcus, Peter, and Richard, and sister, Madge Doiron.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be given to National Multiple Sclerosis Society or charity of choice.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Reynolds, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service and 4:30 p.m. rosary service in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Monday.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Reynolds, ND.
