Thomas J. Zimmerman, 65, of Thompson, ND, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at his home.
He was born on March 6, 1945, in Dickinson, ND to Valentine and Elizabeth (Jundt) Zimmerman. He graduated from Dickinson State University in 1974. He married Patricia Rettig on August 18, 1972. He was employed at the USDA Human Nutrition Lab as a biologist from 1974 to the present. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1969 and served four years including a one year tour in Vietnam. He was an avid sports fan especially of the UND Fighting Sioux athletic teams.
Tom is survived by his wife and three sons, Jason, Aaron (Sue) and Joshua; five grandchildren, Brady, Hayden, Payne, Claudia and Samantha; two brothers, Fabian (Minerva) Zimmerman, Taylor, ND and James Zimmerman, Castle Rock, CO and one sister, Betty Zimmerman, Dickinson, ND. He was preceded in death by: his parents and two sisters, Arlene L. Zimmerman and Dorothy Ann Zimmerman and sister-in-law Anita Zimmerman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Disabled Vets.
Memorial Mass: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in St. Jude's Catholic Church, Thompson, North Dakota.
Visitation: will be one hour prior to the mass in the church.
Interment: St. Jude's Cemetery, Thompson.
