Mathilda Mattson, 106, of East Grand Forks, MN died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston, MN.
Mathilda Mattson was born November 4, 1903 in Badger, MN the daughter of Andrew and Christina (Grabkerstierson) Erickson. She grew up in Badger, MN. She married Adolph H. Mattson on June 19, 1929 in Roseau, MN. They moved to rural East Grand Forks where they farmed. Adolph died November 7, 1937.
She worked at the Muehlebach Hotel in Kansas City, KS for 21 years retiring in 1975 when she returned to East Grand Forks.
She is survived by 1 daughter Adeline Teigland, of East Grand Forks, 1 son Eugene "Jeep" (Mary Ann) Mattson of East Grand Forks, MN, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Hilda Johnson of Crookston, MN, and Minnie Larson of Skobey, MT.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers; Erick, Clarence and Ernest, 1 sister Edith, 2 brothers-in-law; Elmer Johnson and Winslow Larson and son-in-law Douglas Teigland.
The family would like to thank and recognize the Administration and staff at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN for the wonderful care they've given Mathilda over the last four and one-half years. We'd also like to thank the staff at Parkwood Place for the care they provided her prior to moving to Crookston.
Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Bethany Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks, MN.
Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before services at the church.
Burial: North Bethany Cemetery, rural East Grand Forks, MN.
