Sophie R. Sevigny, 85, Grand Forks, ND died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in her home.

Sophie R. Silewski was born March 21, 1925 near Drayton, ND the daughter of John and Rose Silewski. She was raised and educated near Drayton and helped her brother farm there.

Sophie married Raymond Sevigny on November 13, 1947 at Warsaw, ND. They lived in Drayton, ND, Grafton, ND, Brooks, MN and Vesleyville, ND until moving to Grand Forks in 1955.

Sophie loved gardening and canning. She was well known for her dill pickles and cucumber salad which she would frequently make for family gatherings. She also enjoyed fishing, BINGO and playing cards.

Survivors include he husband, Raymond, Grand Forks; children, Rosalia (Gerald) Ray, Alexandria, MN, Marlene (Thomas) Kirkeby-Dowdle, Kennedy, MN, Patricia (William) Kirkeby, Warroad, MN, Timothy Sevigny, Grand Forks, Thomas (Dorothy) Sevigny, Grand Forks, Frank Sevigny, Bailey, CO and Arnold Sevigny, Grand Forks; 32 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren (and 4 on the way).

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 infant children; 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, June 28, 2010 in St. Michael's Catholic Church of Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM with a 7:30 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church.

Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks.

Arrangements are with Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks.
