Elton S. Anderson (1930 - 2010)
Elton S. Anderson, Andy to his friends and Sonny to his family. Elton passed away on June 21, 2010 at home. He was 79.
Elton was born on September 25, 1930 in Milton, ND.
He was the 8th of 10 children born to Barney and Alvina Anderson. He moved west after graduating from Gardar High School in Gardar, ND.
In Washington he had various jobs and met his future wife JoAnn. In 1952 he joined the Army. Before being stationed in Germany he married JoAnn in Monterey, CA. After leaving the Army in 1954 he and JoAnn's first business venture was Andy's Recreation Room. Pool Hall and hamburger joint in one located in Montesano, WA. Then in 1957 he went in search of new jobs before finding his niche, construction. He worked for several construction companies in Oregon and California. Then in 1968 he and his nephew Steve formed Anderson Construction Co. in Redding. When Steve moved to Washington, Elton stayed in the construction business until he found another niche in later years selling supplemental insurance.
Elton was a member of Riverview Country Club for many years. It was here he enjoyed a good round of golf and if he didn't take your money on the course he would try to win it playing cards in the 19th hole.
Elton is survived by his wife JoAnn, son Stan (Dana, Nicole, Rodney) daughter Lynn, sisters Beatrice and Ethel, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Interim Hospice for their care of Elton and the family in his last months. Thank you to Beth, Connie, Meagan and Morgan.
