Phyllis (McConnachie) Moen, age 75, Grand Forks (formerly of Inkster), passed away at her home on Monday, June 14th, 2010.
Phyllis McConnachie was born July 17, 1934 in Inkster, ND, the daughter of Robert and Alice (Muir) McConnachie. She was raised in Inkster, graduated from Inkster High School and attended Jamestown College. She was a member of the Inkster Presbyterian Church.
Phyllis married Kenneth Moen on April 18, 1953 in the Inkster Presbyterian Church. Following their marriage the couple lived on a farmstead near Gilby until they moved to Inkster where they farmed, owned Inkster Spring Water Co. for 20 years, and later operated Moen’s Market from 1972 – 1990. They farmed until 1995 when Ken retired. Phyllis & Ken spent their winters in Mesa. Following Ken's death in 2008 Phyllis moved to Valley Square where she made her home.
Surviving members of her family include her daughters: Ruth Jelinek, Pisek, ND and Shari (Mark) Thompson, Park River, ND; grandchildren: Jason (Christy) Jelinek; Sarah Jelinek; Sean (Colleen) Thompson; Shara (Aaron) Fischer; Erin (Grant) Gigstad; Dean Thompson; Jaime Moen; and Nicole Moen; great grandchildren: Tyson, Ashlyn and Alex Jelinek; Gage and Wyatt Jelinek; Drew, Jack, Kate and Will Thompson; Meg and Thompson Fischer; and Aniston and Beckett Gigstad; sister: Reta (Gordon) Nelson, Fargo; brothers-in-law: Butch (Jan) Moen; John (Lori) Moen; sisters-in-law: Marion Moen; Marian Moen.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ken; son Larry; grandson Jeremiah Jelinek; and her parents.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Saturday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the Inkster Presbyterian Church of Inkster, ND.
INTERMENT: Inkster Cemetery
VISITATION: Friday, June 18 from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Saturday.
