Jean Evelyn Brosseau

Jean Evelyn Brosseau died peacefully and with dignity on May 7th, 2010, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.

Jean was born January 26, 1919, in Drayton to James Graham Brown and Ethel (VanCamp) Brown. She graduated from Drayton High School in 1936.

She married Franklin H. “Pete” Brosseau at Drayton on January 11, 1940. To this union were born four (4) children. Jean and Pete resided in Drayton all of their lives with the exception for short times when the railroad stationed them in Crete and Bowesmont, North Dakota.

Following Pete’s retirement in 1979, they had the opportunity to do extensive traveling; spending many winters in great locations such as Hawaii, Germany, Arizona, Virginia and Alabama.

After Pete’s passing in 1998, Jean moved to Bismarck where she resided in her condo. In October of 2007 she moved to Illinois to live with her daughter Susan and family.

Throughout her life, Jean dedicated herself to her husband and her family. Her children knew that they could not leave the house unless they were freshly scrubbed and cleanly dressed. To her last day she was the master of detail, with nothing escaping her attention that may be going on in her surroundings. She kept in constant contact with all of her children, insuring she was “up to date” on the welfare of all grandchildren and great grandchildren. If for some reason a child missed making a “timely” call, she would straighten out the situation with her own call.

In recent years, she spent countless hours insuring that her children and siblings had complete records of their heritage for many generations through copies of pictures from her extensive picture album archives.

Our Mom was a special lady who we will greatly miss. We are all grateful for the special example we all had and the many years that God allowed her to be with us.

Jean is survived by her children: Bill, Overland Park, Kansas; Terry (Joan), Bismarck; Frank (Dawn), St. Paul, Minnesota; Susan (Richard) Thompson, Mascoutah, Illinois; her grandchildren: Lisa (Darrin) Wolff and Kathy (Edward) Bruce, Overland Park; Brad (Paula), Tracy and Steven Brosseau, Bismarck; Matt and Rick (Meghann) Brosseau, Minneapolis; Kim (Michael) Magathan, Loganville, GA; Kara (Jonathan) Loden, Mascoutah, IL; Kristen (Craig) Meng, Freeburg, IL; Kelly Thompson, Macomb, IL; Step Grandchildren: Michelle Thompson and Reese Miller, Bismarck. Great Grandchildren: Abby and Jake Wolff, Cameron Bruce, Cole, Logan, Nick and Alex Brosseau; Halsey and Sidney Thompson; Kate and Kiersten Magathan, Sophia and Jackson Loden, Luke Meng. Brother John “Jack” (Flora) Brown, Drayton; Sisters Donna (Leonard) Altendorf, Bull Head City, AZ and Gerri (Jim) Barclay, Shelton, WA., and special friend and sister-in-law Gladys Brosseau, Grand Forks, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, her parents, and her sister Edith Brown Cinocca of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Drayton, North Dakota.

Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 11th at Adamson Austin Funeral Home, Drayton, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
