Dan "Boonie" Bogan, 57 of Oklahoma City, OK passed away April 28, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Dan, the only son of Louis and Helen (Stephens) Bogan, was born on March 25, 1953 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He attended Holy Family Middle School, St. James High School and Red River High School in Grand Forks and graduated in 1971. He loved sports and was a stand out in both football and basketball in high school. Dan also attended Devils Lake Junior College and Mayville State College before he began work at Lystad's Exterminating Company in Grand Forks. He transferred to Oklahoma City in 1980 and in 1985 he established his own company, Bogan Pest Control. Danny married Joan Bryant on June 15, 1984. Together they built their business while they raised four children.
Boonie was a multi-talented man who taught himself to expertly overhaul cars for his kids, he also taught himself to play guitar, sing and write songs. He had a smile and a good word for everyone he met. His Irish charm allowed him to make countless friends throughout his lifetime. He especially enjoyed the peace and serenity of the outdoors and loved to hunt deer or just spend time watching wildlife in the country. He was dedicated and caring father, who spent much of his time raising and mentoring his children.
Dan is survived by his wife, Joan and four children: Danielle Marie, Shannon Kathleen, Michelle Jane and Louis Hunter; and three grandchildren; Brylon, Emma, and Brayden; all of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by his mother, Helen Marie Bogan, Grand Forks, ND and six sisters: Chris (Rood) Grand Forks: Mary (Lien) Grand Forks; Jane (Cooley) Scottsdale, AZ; Kathleen (Wavra) Dallas, TX; Susan (Kenser), Ashland, KY and Stephanie (Johnston), Champlin, MN. Dan is preceded in death by his father Louis.
Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday May 3, 2010, at New Church.
Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Grand Forks, ND.
