Gunda Fredricka (Hanson) Larson, 95, of Roseau, MN, formerly of Kennedy, MN, passed away at LifeCare Roseau Manor on Monday, April 12, 2010.

Gunda was born on May 8, 1914 to Mathias and Esther (Langley) Hanson in Stephen, MN. She graduated from high school in Stephen and then from Moorhead Teachers' College. She taught in country schools near Argyle, Lancaster, and St. Vincent, MN.

She married Loyal L. Larson on June 16, 1942, in Stephen, and they established their home in Kennedy, MN. Gunda was a mother and homemaker and an active participant in her husband's businesses. They operated both the Kennedy Theater and the Idle Hour Theater in Stephen. They also owned Larson Sales and Service in Kennedy for many years, selling boats, motors and farm supplies.

Gunda was a lifelong member of Maria Lutheran Church, the church women's group, taught Sunday school, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. Loyal and Gunda had a cabin at Wheeler's Point, Lake of the Woods, where they enjoyed years of fishing, family times, and boating. In later years they spent their winters in Yuma, AZ where they had many friends. Gunda was an active woman who loved horses, golf, curling, and endless hands of bridge.

Gunda is survived by her children, L. Jon Larson (Ann) of Menomonie, WI, Mary Larson (Dr. Gerald Osband) of Scottsdale, AZ, Dr. Robert Larson (Joyce) of Roseau, MN, and Susan Greenhoe (Terry), of Roseau, MN; 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Loyal in 2004; parents, Mathias and Esther; brothers, Norman, Arthur, Monrad, Hjalmer, Andrew, Martin, and Thomas; and sisters Maud Beach, and Mary Swanson.

A funeral service for Gunda F. Larson will be held on Friday, April 16, at the Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy, MN at 2:00 p.m.

A visitation will be held at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at the church.

So sorry to hear of Gunda's passing. I got to know both Gunda and Loyal very well over the many years working here at the bank and I also remember as a child going to the "Idle Hour" with my parents to movies and both Loyal and Gunda being there. My our Savior Jesus Christ welcome her home!! Dick and Bev Bolduc
