Mavis Naas, age 70, resident of McVille, ND passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Meritcare Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND.

Mavis Naas, age 70, resident of McVille, ND passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Meritcare Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND.

Mavis was born August 10, 1939 to Alvin and Selma (Havn) Orvik. She grew up and attended country school in Rugh Township and graduated from McVille High School. She attended and graduated from St. Lukes School of Nursing in Fargo, ND. Mavis married Ardell Naas on June 27, 1964 in Aneta, ND. After their marriage they farmed in the Kloten area. Ardell passed away June 11, 1979. Mavis worked within the Nelson County Health System for 48 years as a manager, staff nurse, home health care nurse and trainer. She also delivered numerous babies in Nelson County. She served on the NCHS board of directors for over 30 years. Her hobbies and interests included spending time with family, collecting bird figurines, watching and feeding birds, fishing, camping, sports and playing cards.

Mavis will be missed and remembered by her daughters Jodi (Paul) Myrvik of Edmore, ND and Pepper (Jeffrey) Lippert of Kloten, ND; sons Shawn (Kim) Naas of Mountain Lake, MN and Kevin Naas of Inver Grove Heights, MN; step mother Judy Orvik of Howard, SD; 6 grandchildren Reed Anderson, Taylor Naas, Carly Lippert, Krista Lippert, Brooke Naas and Brandi Lippert; sisters Almyra Topp of Grace City, ND and Shirley (Jack) Hanson of Florence, AZ; Brothers Gelaine (Linda) Orvik of Fargo, ND, Jerome (Jan) Orvik of Fargo, ND & Earl (Jane) Orvik of Adams, MN. Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Neil Orvik.

Funeral Services for Mavis will be Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Kloten, ND.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 4 to 7 PM in the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille, ND and one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment will be in the spring in Our Savior's Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Mavis Naas Nursing Scholarship through Nelson County Health Systems, PO Box 506 McVille, ND.

Mavis was so good to Gordon when she cared for him in Hospice. We were always glad to see her come. My sincere sympathy. JoAnne Smaaladen
