Delores Goetz passed away November 12th, 2009, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND.
Delores was born May 10, 1928, in Kulm, ND, to Christ and Lena Hauff, where she attended school. In 1948, she moved to Bismarck, where she met and married Frank Goetz on February 21st, 1949.
The three “C”s were central to Delores’ married life: Children, conversation, and coffee. Her three children and grandchildren were blessed to have someone who spoiled them with homemade apple pies and handmade knitted sweaters, always finding the ‘right gift’ for their each of their personalities. She enjoyed playing board games and going to all their activities. Whether a music concert or hockey game, Delores was excited to be a part of it.
She also was very active with her own interests throughout the years with golfing and travelling bowling teams, also fitting in working as a department manager at Sears, a medical records clerk at Mid Dakota Clinic, and working seasonally at the North Dakota Tax Department.
“Coffee at Delores” was a staple phrase as the door was always open to friends and family at 1702 Avenue D. In her last few years of being able to stay in her home, Delores was independent, yet had assisted living with a close network of friends that were her ‘angels’ bringing her groceries, taking her to appointments, running errands, making and taking food, spending time and watching game shows with her – above and beyond the normal context of friendship.
Delores is survived by three children, Bettylou Vorland, Grand Forks, ND, son, Frank (Pauline) Goetz, Centennial, Colorado, and Tami (Paul) Striegel, Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Kristi Vorland, Grand Forks, ND, and Joe, Steve, and Laurel Striegel, Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; two brothers, Harry and Wilbert Hauff; and two sisters, Ella Hildebrand, and Adeline Krause.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service Chapel, Bismarck, with Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
