Phyllis Olson, 86, of Lake Bronson, Minnesota passed way at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks on Wednesday, October 14, 2009.
Phyllis Pearson was born December 7, 1922 at Warren, Minnesota to Peter and Ellen (Stamnes) Pearson. She grew up at Kennedy, Minnesota and attended school there. On February 5, 1941 she married Arthur Olson at Drayton, North Dakota. The couple lived in Bremerton, Washington for two years during WWII. They returned to the family farm in Percy Township of Kittson County. Arthur and Phyllis wintered in Arizona for 9 years. Arthur died on November 15, 1996.
Phyllis was an excellent baker and enjoyed Twins games, knitting, and visiting with family and friends. During the winter months, Phyllis lived in Thief River Falls, returning to the farm every spring. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Family members include two daughters, Patricia Lee, Battle Lake, MN and Rebecca (Mark) Bothum, Kennedy, MN; a son, Mitchell Olson, Lake Bronson; six grandchildren, Vanessa, Alycia, Derek, Melissa, Rachel and Luke; seven great grandchildren, Nick, Aidan, Tristan, Reid, Ava, Gabriel and Samuel; sisters, Lorraine Shield, Bremerton, WA and Dona Runnels, Warroad, MN; a brother, Earl Pearson, Seattle, WA and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Edythe Johnson.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church at Lake Bronson. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson.
Austin-Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
